School is back in session which means Homecoming is approaching, as well as multiple school dances and proms through the year. We’re here to help you come up with plans for High School dance ‘Day Dates.’ We’ve listed 10 different ideas below and we even give tips on where to go for lunch or dinner.
Nerf Gun Fun
Inside Layton Hills Mall, Dartside welcomes large groups (up to 80 players) to have fun with Nerf guns in their huge arenas with obstacles to make things interesting. If you and your friends want to run wild and have fun competitions, Dartside is the place to go.

Get Creative in Art Studio
Hands on Art is an art and ceramic studio in Farmington that has the perfect Prom Package, for you to paint ceramic mugs with your date in their art studio. This is perfect for those who love arts and crafts, or want to try painting for the first time. You can bring in a large group or just go with your date.
Cost: $25 per couple, includes 2 mugs and the art studio fee
Enjoy authentic Mexican food at Javier’s down the road, after enjoying the art studio.
Swim with Stingrays
Inside Layton Hills Mall, the SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium gives a unique opportunity to not only touch fish and other animals, but you can actually snorkel in their stingray tank. Don’t worry, it’s totally safe to swim with these stingrays because their stingers are deactivated. They are very friendly. You can pet and feed the stingray while swimming with them. This would be an unforgettable day date!
Cost: $29.95 (for members), $39.95 (for non-members), includes All-Day Admission to entire Aquarium. Reservations required. Adult supervision required.

Hike & Picnic
There are hiking trails all throughout Davis County. A couple hikes that have picnic tables at the beginning of their trailheads are Mueller Park Trail in Bountiful and Wild Rose Trail in North Salt Lake, and there are plenty of picnic tables on Antelope Island, with numerous trails to discover. You can find a guide to trails in Davis County online or by picking up a trail map at any city office or bike shop in the county.
Cost: Hiking – free, except on Antelope Island – $10 gate entrance fee. Picnic cost varies.
Laser Tag Fun
In Sunset, Laser Zone is perfect for large groups who love the thrill of laser tag. Laser Zone is truly a community space, with pool tables, ping-pong tables, a gaming station and more to enjoy on-top of your laser tag games.
Cost: $6.50 per person, for 1 game. Bring in a group of 12 or more to get 2 games for $9 each.
Nearby, Rita’s Pizzeria serves up Chicago style pizza to fill you after having a blast at laser tag.
Solve Mysteries Together
The Great Room Escape, just outside of Layton Hills Mall, allows you to work together to solve mysteries before you get eaten by a zombie, are fooled by Houdini, or get attacked in the woods… Not really of course, but their various Hollywood-studio-worthy themed rooms (with actors/actresses inside of them) put you to the test to find mysteries and clues to unlock your door before time runs out. This is a very fun and challenging experience with friends!

Ice Skating Date
No matter what time of year, you can go ice skating at the indoor ice rink in the South Davis Recreation Center. It’s always fun to watch friends try to slide around on skates, and a bonus to this date is that it’s the least expensive activity on our list.
Cost: $3.50 ice rink fee (ages 17 and younger), $5 ice rink fee (ages 18 and above), $1.50 per skate rental
*Be sure to check their public ice skating times, as they do hold hockey games and private lessons often
Fill up on award winning Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches at Vito’s after, on Bountiful Main Street.
Virtual Realty Gaming
Here’s another entertaining activity at Layton Hills Mall! Virtualities is a virtual reality gaming studio that lets you play against one another or solo, in all kinds of adventures like swimming with sharks, fighting aliens, riding roller coasters and more. They even have a full-body running simulator so that you can be totally immersed into virtual reality. This is a unique experience that is fun to have with friends!
Cost: VR starts at $6
Since this is also conveniently located in Layton Hills Mall you can easily go to the food court after. Or venture just outside the mall parking lot to enjoy sushi at Happy Hashi.
Glow-in-the-Dark Golf & Go-Karts
The Rush Funplex in Syracuse has so much to offer – in fact they are the largest indoor amusement center in Utah. A couple unique features that are super fun at The Rush, are their go-karts and their 3D glow-in-the-dark miniature golf. Easily fill 2 hours of fun with their school dance deal. Taking your date here will truly be a RUSH!

Bowl the Day Away
Boondocks is another amusement center in Davis County that has so much fun to offer! Also, they have exceptional food. It’s so fun to take a group of friends bowling at Boondocks. While you’re there you may also find yourself at the arcade games or enjoying their outdoor attractions when the weather is nice.
